Egg Donor Selected!

We are so excited to share a quick update that we have selected our egg donor! We might be jumping the gun a bit, but felt that we found the perfect donor to complement both of our traits. We should also probably mention that it is our intent to do what's called a split-cycle, this means that half the eggs would be fertilized by each of our sperm. So it was important to find a donor that has a history of a larger number of eggs, good complementary traits, healthy family history, etc. After reviewing donors for the last couple of months, when this donor appeared on the reservation system right after booking our travel arrangements for our sperm freeze, she checked all the boxes we could have hoped for and just felt it was meant to be, so we "reserved" her.

After reserving the egg donor, an ORM genetic specialist reviewed our files to make sure that the donor was not a genetic carrier of anything that would conflict with either of our genetics based on our Sema4 results. After review, they confirmed that we are all a match and could move forward with the reservation! For now, this just consists of sending payment to hold this donor for 60 days, completing some legal agreements, and waiting for us to complete our end of the deal in Portland next month.

Everything seems to be moving along really well now and starting to feel real, it's crazy for us to think in the next couple of months that we will potentially have embryos, we just hope our little swimmers cooperate so we can get this show on the road 😆
