May 1st Update (2020)
Well, it has been a couple of months since our last post, and things seem a bit iffy with the current worldwide pandemic, which of course just started right after we signed up with IARC in February. We are guessing that there will be some surrogates that decide not to move forward due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus, but thankfully IARC is still matching surrogates with intended parents every month.
On average they match about 5-7 surrogates per month with intended parents on the singleton waitlist. When we signed up in February, there were 82 families ahead of us and as of today, there are now 67 ahead of us. Being the surrogate screening process takes a lot of time before they get cleared to become a surrogate, IARC still has a backlog of upcoming potential surrogates, so we are hopeful that we will still get matched in about 10-11 months.
Other than that, not much has changed besides just watching our waitlist numbers from the monthly updates that IARC provides. Also given the current pandemic, we have decided to wait on choosing a clinic to create our embryos until we learn more about this virus and where things are heading... until then we will just keep our fingers crossed that this is short-lived!
